Test Method

Kinetic interaction of microparticles in a solution (KIMS); Roche Cobas Pro.

Performance

Testing is performed Monday through Sunday

Typically completed within 4 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.

Specimen Requirement

Collect blood in a lithium heparin green-top or red-top tube. Minimum volume is 0.5mL.
Serum and plasma gel tubes are not acceptable. 

Peak specimens are collected 2 hours after I.V. injection. Serum or plasma should
be separated from contact with cells within 2 hours of collection.
Serum or plasma should be stored be refrigerated if assay is not completed within 8 hours.

Monitoring selected patients receiving vancomycin therapy

20.0-40.0 mcg/mL

  • Toxic Level: >50.0 mcg/mL
