Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.
Typically completed within 4 hours
Specimen Requirement
0.5 mL urine is required.
Collect a random urine specimen in a sterile container. No preservative is required. Label the specimen appropriately with two identifiers, patient name and another identifier, (patient ID
number, DOB, etc.) include date and time of collection. Store the urine specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab within 48 hours.
Useful For
Assessment of protein intake and/or nitrogen balance.
Reference Values
Reference values are not established for random urine specimens.
Results are subject to interpretation by the clinician.
