Test Method
Dye-Binding Colorimetric Method; Beckman DXC600
Performance
Testing is performed Monday through Sunday, once daily
before
noon.
Typically assayed within 2 hours after the specimen
arrives
at the testing site if the sample arrives before the noon
run. Any specimens arriving after the daily run will be
performed on the following day.

Evaluation of renal disease
Screening for monoclonal gammopathy
Specimen Requirement
10 mL urine is required.

Additional Specimen Collection Information
Collect a urine specimen for the specified time in a
plastic container. No preservative required. Store the urine
specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab within 48 hours.
Label the specimen appropriately with two identifiers, patient
name
and another identifier, (patient ID number, DOB, etc.) include
date
and time of collection. Record the time period of collection on
the
specimen label. Send the entire specimen to the laboratory.
24-Hour
specimens are recommended but other timed collections are
acceptable.
Labs submitting specimens should aliquot 10 mL and send
in a plastic transport tube. Label the tube appropriately
with
two identifiers, patient name and another identifier, (patient
ID
number, DOB, etc.) include date and time of
collection. Record
the time period of collection and total volume of the
timed
specimen on both the request form and the specimen. Store the
urine
specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab within 48 hours.
