Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.
Typically assayed within 2 hours after the
specimen
arrives at the testing site.
Useful For
Identification of abnormal physiologic states causing excess
or
suppressed excretion of calcium, such as hyperparathyroidism,
vitamin D abnormality, diseases that destroy bone, prostate
cancer,
and drug treatment, such as thiazide therapy.
Specimen Requirement
0.5 mL urine is required.

Additional Specimen Collection Information
Collect a timed urine specimen, 24 hour preferred. 10 mL
of
6N HCl is required as a preservative. Keep specimen
chilled
during the collection period. Submit entire specimen for
analysis.
Store the urine specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab
within 48 hours.
