Specimen Requirement

Approximately 1 mL of blood and bone spicules from bone marrow and a core biopsy.

Slides are immediately made from blood specimen and remaining blood and core biopsy are put into Z-5 fixative if processed that day, or formalin if processed the next day.
Note: Patient must lie on his/her back for 30 minutes following procedure to keep pressure on puncture site.
