Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Gold-top serum gel tube or plain, red-top tube

Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of serum, allow specimens to completely clot before centrifugation

Stability: Refrigerate samples (2 to 8 °C) for 10 days or keep frozen for up to 2 months.

Collection Instructions: Hemolyzed specimens are not acceptable.

Albumin 49.8-67.5% 3.40-5.00 g/dL
Alpha 1 globulin 2.8-5.7% 0.20-0.40 g/dL
Alpha 2 globulin 7.3-14.5% 0.50-1.10 g/dL
Beta globulins 8.6-14.2% 0.50-1.10 g/dL
Gamma globulin 8.8-19.2% 0.60-1.50 g/dL
