Performance
Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.
Routine: Typically assayed within 2 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
Specimen Requirement
24 hour urine collection is preferred.
Collect all urine for the prescribed period. No preservative is required. Keep the urine chilled during the collection period and prior to testing. Label the specimen with patient name and two identifiers (patient ID number, DOB, etc.). Send entire urine collection to the laboratory. Indicate the collection time period.
Store the urine specimen refrigerated and transport to the lab within 48 hours.
Useful For
Urinary creatinine, in conjunction with serum creatinine, is used to calculate the creatinine clearance, a measure of renal function.

Males: 980‑2200 mg/24 h
Females: 720‑1510 mg/24 h
