Homogeneous enzymatic colorimetric test; Roche cobas Pro
Performance
Testing is performed Monday through Sunday.
Routine: Typically completed within 4 hours after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
STAT: Typically completed within 30 minutes after the specimen arrives at the testing site.
Specimen Requirement
Specimen type and volume:
Lithium heparin plasma (dark green or mint) is the specimen of choice.
EDTA plasma (purple) and serum (red or gold) are also acceptable.
A 12 hour fast prior to collection is preferred but not required.
Refrigerate the specimen if unable to transport to the lab within 8 hours of collection. It is recommended that the serum or plasma be separated from contact with cells within 2 hours from time of collection. Specimens not centrifuged within 4 hours of collection may be rejected.
