Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:  

Preferred: Green tube (lithium heparin)

Acceptable: Gold top- SST or EDTA plasma

Specimen:  0.5 mL 

Minimum:  0.024 mL plus a dead volume

Stability:

  • Room temperature:  5 days.  Samples on analyzer should be analyzed with 2 hrs.
  • Refrigeration (2°-8°C):  14 days
  • Frozen (≤ -20°C): 6 months Freeze samples only once and mix thoroughly after thawing.

Transport:  Refrigerated
