Container/Tube:

Preferred: Pleural, peritoneal (ascites, pancreatic), pericardial and synovial fluid

Acceptable: Other fluid types including CSF should be approved by the supervisor

or pathologist before reporting.

Specimen Volume: 0.1 mL of body fluid.

Stability: Separated specimens should be analyzed immediately or kept at room temperature

for up to 3 days. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
