Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube:
Preferred: Pleural and peritoneal (ascites, pancreatic, JP) fluid
Acceptable: Other body fluids must have Pathology approval before being reported.
Specimen Volume: 0.2 mL of body fluid.
Stability: Samples should be stored at 2 - 8ºC and analyzed within 7 days. For longer storage, samples should be frozen at or below -20 ºC.
Note: Indicate specimen source on specimen container and in computer.
