Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube Perferred: 0.5 mL serum,
Gold-top gel tube or plain, red-top tube
Acceptable: 0.5 mL plasma, Lavender-top EDTA or
Green-top Sodium heparin
Transport Temperature: Refrigerate ≤7 days
Collection Instructions: If there is a delay in transport of >7 days, send specimen frozen in plastic vial.
Reference Values
Negative <10.0 IU/mL
Equivocal 10.0 - 15.0 IU/mL
Positive >15.0 IU/mL
